This is a recording of the ABC’s AM program on October 16, 1975, the morning after the Senate first voted to block Supply.
The program was hosted by Bill Dowsett and began with an extract of Whitlam’s Address to the Nation the previous night.
Dowsett began: “So that’s it – Australia holds its breath as the great battle begins, a frightening conflict without precedent in the political history of this country.”
